Why Choose York Pathology?
What We Do
The Physicians of York Pathology Associates provide anatomical and Clinical pathology services to the residents of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties. Each of our four pathologists is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and collectively have over eighty years of post-training practice experience. York Pathology is the exclusive pathology service provider for Piedmont Medical Center (Rock Hill), Springs Memorial Hospital (Lancaster), and Chester Regional Medical Center (Chester). We provide outpatient anatomic pathology services for many of the physician office practices in the counties we serve. Our group performs forensic autopsies for York, Chester, and Lancaster counties. Private autopsies are offered to families of decedents in these and surrounding counties.
Customer Service
The physicians of York Pathology pride themselves in maintaining the highest level of customer service available. Our pathologists work hard to help the referring physician get the right test performed for the right patient at the right time. One of our pathologists is available 24/7 for questions or result retrieval. Our couriers are available for STAT specimen pick up and supply delivery. We welcome the opportunity to visit your office to see how we can serve you and your patients better. Our Quality Assurance activities insure our diagnostic skills are maintained at the highest level.
Proven Track Record
The members of our practice pathologists have over eighty combined years of practice experience. Our senior member, Dr. James Maynard, began his career in Rock Hill in 1975, joined the following year by Dr. Earl Jenkins. Since that time, these physicians have been respected by their clinical colleagues for their contribution to the healthcare team.
Continuity of Care
When the physicians of York Pathology make diagnoses on the biopsy specimens from the physician office, the patient is best served. This practice helps the final pathology correlation when the patient has their definitive procedure at the hospital. This helps prevent duplicate testing on complicated cases, and provides for quality assurance of all healthcare providers.
Hospital and Pathology Quality Assurance Activities
We offer twenty-four hour, seven days a week consultative coverage for the physicians and patients in our community. All prostate biopsies, all breast biopsies, and all malignancies are reviewed by at least two pathologists to ensure diagnostic accuracy and quality. All cancer cases are reported in CAP-approved protocols to ensure all necessary information is accurately relayed to the treating physician. We offer a rapid standard turn around time of twenty four hours, with larger cancer cases usually taking forty eight hours. Our members are active in ensuring hospital wide quality by serving on medical staff committees including Medical Executive Committee, Infection Control, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Trauma, Credentials, Oncology, and Radiation Safety. We participate in the weekly Tumor Board in which difficult cancer cases are discussed in a multidisciplinary fashion to optimize patient treatment options and ensure excellent overall patient care. Consultation with other major medical universities and cancer programs is available on unusually difficult cases.
